Anderson is best known for his work on films such as The Long Good Friday (1980), Mona Lisa (1986), and The Crying Game (1992). Anderson began his career in the film industry in the late 1960s, working as an assistant director on films such as The Italian Job (1969) and The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976). He then moved into directing, helming the cult classic The Long Good Friday in 1980. He followed this up with the critically acclaimed Mona Lisa in 1986, and The Crying Game in 1992. Anderson has also directed several television series, including The Bill (1985-1987), The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles (1992-1993), and The X-Files (1996-1998). Anderson has been married twice, first to actress and singer Lulu in 1972, and then to actress and producer Joanna Lumley in 1994. He has two children from his first marriage.
